“…he showed up in ways I didn’t anticipate, meeting a need I didn’t know I had.”
A quiet frustration had been building in me.
It came from hearing about renewal constantly but feeling like I wasn’t experiencing it and was missing out.
I was frustrated with what seemed like a voiceless God.
During this time, I found time to go to the prayer room.
When I arrived, I sat for an hour, praying and reading the word. It was a nice time, but not much to write home about.
The next week I went again, another pleasant hour passed, but, again, it didn’t seem like much happened.
However, I awoke the next day to find a peace within me accompanied by something I hadn’t felt in years: a yearning to read the Bible so I could know God more. It was like there was a dormant hunger and desire to know Him that was awakened. As well as this, a delightful sense of his presence carried on into my everyday life.
I realised that during my time in the prayer room God had actually been gently ministering to my soul.
I don’t usually feel or hear much when I’m praying. However, I wanted to be stretched and to step out of what I was used to.
Going to the prayer room created space for me to focus. It was a physical act of seeking and posturing myself to be expectant for God. In the end, he showed up in ways I didn’t anticipate, meeting a need I didn’t know I had.
